The Layer-2 Altcoins That Developers Have Focused On Most Over the Past Month Have Been Revealed
Cryptocurrency analytics company Santiment has revealed the most active Layer-2 networks based on developer activity, using GitHub data from the past 30 days.
The data reveals that competition continues unabated, particularly among Ethereum scaling solutions, with Starknet and Aztec maintaining their top positions.
According to Santiment data, developer activity metrics reflect the technical progress of projects on GitHub and ecosystem growth, with leadership in this area considered a critical indicator of long-term fundamental strength.
Starknet ($STRK) maintained its top position with 117 points of developer activity, while the privacy-focused Layer-2 solution Aztec ($AZTEC) came in second with 116.27 points. Arbitrum ($ARB) retained its third-place position with 73.37 points.
On the other hand, Optimism (OP) rose to fourth place compared to last month, while zkSync (ZK) dropped in the rankings to fifth place.

According to data shared by Santiment, the top 10 Layer-2 projects by developer activity, and their developer activity scores, are ranked as follows:

- Aztec ($AZTEC) – 116.27

- Optimism (OP) – 63.6
- zkSync (ZK) – 55.2
- Cartesi (CTSI) – 36
- Fuel Network (FUEL) – 13.17
